

NELISA ALCALDE
CINEMATOGRAPHER
Nelisa Alcalde is a UK-based cinematographer from southern Spain and a member of “Illuminatrix-Rising,” a collective of professional female cinematographers..
She honed her craft at FAMU in Prague, working in the Czech film industry, along with shooting narrative shorts and documentaries on 16mm and 35mm film.
Her graduation film, Honey Bunny Duracell, won the Art of a New Era Award from the Czech Association of Cinematographers (AČK) and was nominated for the Cassarotto & Ramsay Award at Watersprite 2023.
It also won Best Documentary at both the Paper Bird Award (LJMU MA Festival) and the International Sport Film Festival in Slovenia.
After returning to the UK, she worked as cinematographer and co-director on Isabel's Independence, a mid-length documentary funded by BBC Scotland and the Scottish Documentary Institute, which was broadcast on BBC Scotland in 2021.
Nelisa is currently part of the BSC Mentoring Programme, being mentored by Benjamin Kračun BSC.
She previously completed the ScreenSkills Mentoring Programme with Vanessa Whyte BSC.
