"Local Legends" ~ a Paper Sky Documentary Series

At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.” ~ Denzel Washington, Academy Award-Winning Actor, Director & Producer.

Despite being a production company with its sights set on the world of advertising and commercials, where the cliché stigma is to brainwash the unknowing masses to invest their money into useless material items, under the illusion that this one major purchase will transform their lives for the better - Paper Sky sees itself as more than that (see the 'Meaningful Content' blog).

Paper Sky always endeavoured to invest itself, whenever and however possible, in 'giving back' in some form through the skills and resources it has to offer, which brings us to this new concept that we're trying out: "Local Legends."

It's a straightforward idea; local businesses, services and individuals who themselves are contributing to their respective areas with the goal to improve and inspire others. Such as boxing gyms that provide a place where potentially troubled youths may come each week to focus their negative energies on sparring and exercise instead of street violence and crime; grass-root charities who use innovative ideas with the use of technology and volunteers to provide comfort, ease of living and improvement of well-being to those who may struggle to attain those aspects of everyday life.

Not only that, but we see it as an opportunity to invite students and young filmmakers to cut their teeth behind-the-scenes and earn a few stripes along the way to help them build a solid portfolio for future opportunities in the TV, film and media industry.

These productions will all be free to the businesses, clients and collaborators under the proviso that the completed videos are not created to make anyone a profit or provide financial gain, but instead provides a positive call to action that benefits another person and the audience in general.

Certain conditions and terms will apply, of course - but the ultimate goal is to create a low-cost series where Paper Sky helps to spread awareness for 'Local Legends' who are looking to make their area, and the world itself, a better place whilst training and mentoring the next line of local filmmakers and creatives along the way.
